Supporting Art LIFT & The Art Bomb Brigade

by Amy Eibel | | 0 comments

Little Chicago Clothing Co. is so excited to be working with Arts LIFT and their new spin-off project, the Art Bomb Brigade, this year!

Arts LIFT is a community-based arts apprenticeship program for public high school students in Akron, and I (Amy) have spent many summers (like 10) in education and leadership in this program through my work in art education at The University of Akron. It's a tremendous program, directed by one of the most awesome people I know, Elisa Gargarella.

High school students work with a professional artist-in-residence to create a piece of large-scale public art for a community.

This year, the Art Bomb Brigade kicks-off a new round of interesting public art projects, as the program continues to grow. The first Art Bomb of the summer is a monster of a mural on the side of a laundry mat along South Main Street just south of downtown Akron. This is a neighborhood on the cusp of big revitalization, and this site is a wonderful way to lead the charge to community improvement in this area of the city.

The mural is designed and lead by local artist, Matt Miller.

The public celebration for the completed mural will take place on Thursday, July 8, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at 1035 South Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44311.

It's going to be an awesome party with live music from local artists, a Crafty Mart pop-up market, food trucks and more!

Little Chicago Clothing Co. has provided the printing for this year's Art Bomb Brigade tees, and we are donating proceeds from the sale of all tees back to the program, to support their continued efforts at bringing art to communities in our region.
